My guitar and amp setting.?

I've bought this Zoom Guitar Effect Pedal but i dunno how to set a CLEAN Sound for the overdrive effect. It seem so weird when i play my guitar along some song like MCR-I DONT LOVE YOU or Rooftop. Someone advice me how to set my guitar, guitar effect or amp to have a clean nice sound. Thanks a lot .
