I dont know if this guy likes me or not?

So i really like this Guy, and all of my friends thinks that he likes me too. The other day, his girl who i don't really talk to, who is really good friends with him, pretended like she thought we were dating and was asking if i like him. I kind of feel like he might have set that up and then had her tell him what my. response was. I really want to text him and ask him about it and kind of let him know that im interested, without straight up saying that i like him so that he can't just reject me...could i please have some ideas on what to sayto gim? thanks!
